Can I use cloth nappies at night time?
Switching to cloth nappies at night time is possibly the hardest part of the switch. It requires great nappy design, great quality inserts, and a great attitude. Many cloth users still use disposables at night time. Here you will find some helpful information for your night time switch to ditch the disposables for good!
It’s very normal for people to be a little intimidated by using cloth at night but really it’s not that hard. It’s just a matter of increasing absorbency. You don’t even necessarily need to buy an expensive night nappy, you can use what you have or purchase flexible options. Night nappies can be extremely economic and easy, if you know how.
For younger babies that are changing/feeding through the night, you can just use the regular day nappy through the night as well! You can get around 3-4 hours out of a normal cloth nappy set-up.
As bub starts sleeping for longer and wetting heavier, you can boost your normal cloth nappy. With extra boosters, or inserts made from more absorbent materials (like bamboo or hemp), you can get longer out of your nappies before needing a nappy change.
When your baby is sleeping through the night (Yay for you!!), you may need to consider a specialty night nappy to last the length of time needed. These nappies usually have added features like dual layers of water resistant material (PUL) covers, added absorbency in high quality, multi-layered bamboo or hemp fabrics, and leg gussets to help prevent leaks.
